The TenPoint Viper 430 Crossbow has several important updates over the earlier model that make it better than ever. With an increased velocity of up to 430 feet per second and up to 174 foot pounds of kinetic energy with a slimmer width of only 6.5 inches axle to axle when cocked, this crossbow supplies the performance and maneuverability you need to hunt your best.
This crossbow includes the RangeMaster Pro 100-Yard scope with aim points from 20 to 100 yards, a variable speed setting, and red or green illumination on the aim points. Upgrades compared to prior models include scope struts and a longer optics rail that results in 80 percent higher strength to accommodate larger scopes without adding the weight of a full-length rail, as well as a Sentry Bowhanger stirrup that protects broadheads from dirt in ground blinds and enables easy hanging in tree stands.
The integrated ACUslide safe and silent crank cocking and de-cocking system gives hunters an advantage over other brands where one slip can make the handle spin dangerously and cause injury or damage. I’ve been hunting with a crossbow for over 40 yrs. The Viper 430 is the most technologically Advanced crossbow I’ve ever had. A joy to cock or decock and the narrow design distributes the weight and balances very well.

So far I've only had the chance to use it on targets. With it's speed I sugggest you consider shooting at targets at a minium of 30 yards. Any closer and you risk damaging your fletching. That could get expensive. The only down side is the cable life is decreased to 2 year for normal use. That comes with the trade-off to obtain the 430 FPS speed. No issues to date. Remember to read the insructions and if possible have a knowlegeable salesperson assist you were you purchase the bow. Suggestion: Make sure you demo the bow that you intend to purchase. The Viper fits all of my needs, accurate, reliable and fast.
