Even if you don't shoot metallic silhouettes, you'll want the Crosman 2300S! This pistol is drop-dead accurate and was purpose-made by Crosman to give your competitors a real run for their money.

Things I would have changed:
What others should know:I actually had this pistol custom made thru Crosman. It's the exact barrel, muzzle , and breech. I had a different rear sight added , a trigger shoe , and wood Cocobolo grips added also. This pistol does indeed give you a new found higher level of accuracy. I have the 2300-T which is an excellent accurate pistol, however the 2300S with the L.W barrel is even more accurate. I suggest you get the Gamo Rocker pellet trap with this pistol. The trap is super high grade & perfect in every way. I was nailing all the targets on the trap with THIS PISTOL @ 25 feet and 2 of them are penny size , two are quarter , and the center one about the size of a half dollar. The special barrel is the reason I can nail the penny size & up. That is something that I could not do before buying this gun. Buy the 2300 S--- the Gamo rocker pellet trap-- and tons of Beeman H&N pellets and last but not least 2-3 25 ct boxes of co2.

What others should know:The plastic grips really put this gun at a very good price point. At some later date, I will treat myself and get some wooden grips, but as is, this gun is an exceptional value. I've been shooting for 44 years and when I took this $200 pellet gun out of the box and instantly started putting up incredible groups I was really pleased with the value that Crosman offers with the 2300S.

Things I would have changed:As others have mentioned, the stamped trigger really doesn't fit with the quality of the rest of the pistol. I added a trigger shoe, which helps. The travel adjuster for the trigger extends from the trigger guard. After cutting my finger on it about a dozen times, I removed it. The front site is really narrow in relation to the notch of the rear sight. There's no point in having precise adjustability for the rear sight, when the front sight is so narrow. I find the breach opening to be really small, but not much different than other airguns. I'm not really sure what the muzzle weight is for. It looks cool, but I'd rather just have a good front sight. Oh, yeah, replacing the plastic grips with a nice set of wood ones really dresses things up.
What others should know:Its a really great air pistol that gets better and better with use. I'm really happy with it.

Things I liked:I am getting 80+ shots per cylinder. It is reasonably accurate. I am hitting consistantly in the 9 and 10 rings at 10 meters from bench rest at an olympic 10 meter pistol target. It has only 250 pellets through it. The Williams sight is a work of art. I had no problem with it being level on the breech.

Things I would have changed:The grips are where Crossman saved money. I was aware of this and will replace them. The trigger is not too bad, but the pistol deserves a better one.
What others should know:When I recieved the pistol, the bolt would not open. I could have sent it back. but took it apart instead. I really didn't find anything wrong, I believe the tolerances were just very tight. I cleaned it up, lubed it, and put it back together. It was a bit sticky for about 250 shots. It has broken in nicely now. Loading is an aquired skill, Ok when you figure it out.

The Williams Micrometer Notched Rear Sight is a plus, very easy to bring your shots in (using a sand bag bench rest) Cliick by Click, you will not be unhappy.
Things I would have changed:crosman made a very nice Target Pistol, and must have spent a lot of money and time to perfect the shooting abilities of this Model, BUT, and its a big "BUT", Crosman wasted their time by putting on their Standard Plastic STOCK GRIPS. These are the same Grips used on th Model 2300T (which I also own) as well as their other Pistols, 2250, 22760 etc. If you want to make this a real FANTASTIC Target Pistol (my openion) throw away the Plastic Grips (something Crosman should have done) and invest the extra $60.00 in a set of Crosmans Real Wood Grips. This is something Crosman should have done to distinguish this Pistol from any other out there in the price range. The Wooden Grips are real, and give the gun a whole new feeling. Better balance and better control of your shots. Crosman also needs to re-work the Triger and get rid of the then one they are using. Again I suggest very strongly, that you in vest the $6.00 or so in on of Crosmans Triger Sleves (they come in several colors). Again you will be very happy by adding this device, to give you the feel of a REAL Triger under your finger instead of the pressed Brass one they are using. This is something Crosman needs to do to make this a true compition Target Pistol, change the Grips to Real Wood, and re-design the triger for a better feel. If you the shooter make these changes, believe me you will be moren the estatic with the over all quality of the Model 2300S & (T). I made these changes to both of my new 2300S & 2300T models after a very short time and several hundred rounds later. Now that the changes have been made my dead ctr hits have greatly improved.
What others should know:The 2300S is listed as being able to fire 60+ shots per Co2 cylender, I have been getting 80 + good shots per Co2, but at the same time it has been very warm where I live, and this helps to extend the life of the Co2. Make the above recomended changes wnd you will be very happy with your shooting investment. Also an added note, should you wish to add a Laser Sight to either the 2300S or T Model, and have it mounted out of the way under the Barrel, buy the Crosmans 459MT Mounts (2set kit @ 2pcs each) 3/8 Dovetail. Crosman does not list the 2300S or T as being one of their guns these mounts fit, but take my word for it, they fit and when secured they are nice and tight, and can be mounted upside down under the Barrel very close to the sight to add a Laser sight, Pyramyd Air Sales rep, recomended the Daisy Laser for my personal use, and it works great for low light and night shooting, which I do a lot of.

What others should know:When installing the Williams sight. Crank the elevation up so the sight slides on far enough or you could bend the small bar that slides to lock the sight into the dovetail for installing this great sight.

Things I would have changed:Not much. Trigger is not the best but can be adjusted down to acceptable levels. It may smooth out over time as well....
What others should know:When shooting this pistol at targets and drilling the pellets into the same hole time after time, your eyes kind of wander and you just get carried away plinking at any target - which you always hit!!! Great gun for the money!!!!!!

What others should know:The trigger does have a little creep but not bad at all. It is hard to load wadcutter pellets in the chamber, but holding the barrel upwards does help. The pellets I have been tryed is Crosman field hunting pointed pellets and they load easy and are very accurate. I really love this gun, And I would just like to say that Pyramyd's service is truly second to none.

Things I would have changed:The Williams gunsight is good but is nearly impossible to get set at a perfect right angle to the frame. However since the muzzle weight is adjustable it makes no difference in the accuracy but for a perfectionist (like me) it is slightly annoying.
What others should know:I have tried different pellets, incl match grade, long throat, short throat, pointed, domed, wadcutter combos and it seems to group them all equally well at 25-30 ft which is unique to my experience with any firearm. Maybe after a few more CO2 cartridges I will notice a difference but not so far and I am shooting some pretty good groups.

Also, the pistol has already proven to be very precise; I was able to shoot tight groups the first night of firing (from a bench rest.) The rear sight's adjustments are easy and crisp. The trigger adjustments are effective and useful.
Things I would have changed:The trigger is a thin piece of stamped metal. A proper target trigger would be appropriate. Also, the width of the notch in the rear sight and the thickness of the front sight are not well matched -- there is too much white space in the sight picture. I would prefer a notch about 20% more narrow.
What others should know:When mounted on the pistol, the Williams rear sight is not horizontal; it tilts about 3-4 degrees to the left, so that the front sight does not align properly in the notch -- making the apparent accuracy of the pistol more surprising. Crossman is sending me a new front and rear sight set to try. By the way -- the pistol arrived with no front sight; Crossman had to mail me one!

Things I would have changed:number one i would change the hand grips because they are made of cheap plastic and they give u a feeling like they slide around on u every once and awhile although this gun shoots varry accurate and i feel that it would be more suited for hard wood hand grips also the breech should be easier to opperate it tends to occasionaly lock up on u and pellets sometimes get caught up in the loading process
What others should know:the gun has a hair trigger but as long as you are careful i feel that is a good thing because their is less of a chance of you shifting the muzzel as you pull the trigger in conclusion i would say if u want an accurate pistol for a good price the 2300s is where its at
